Conservation opportunity: Shakerag West

Dear friends,

For those of you who know and love Shakerag Hollow in Sewanee, TN, I write with some urgent news about a land conservation campaign. The South Cumberland Regional Land Trust is raising funds to purchase a critical piece of land that not only serves as an important wildlife corridor but also is home to part of the perimeter trail.

The land trust aims to raise $150,000 in the next 100 days to purchase the land. The area will then be placed into a conservation easement, ensuring both trail access and land protection.

Bran Potter and I are serving as honorary co-chairs of this effort. We both believe very strongly in the importance of protecting this particular piece of land. The land trust is 100% volunteer-run, so your donations go directly to land conservation. A dedicated team of volunteers is running the campaign, led by the extraordinary Carolyn Hoagland.

The land trust is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and so any donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

I hope that you’ll consider making a generous donation and sharing news of the campaign through your networks. Time is of the essence in this particular project.

More information on the Land Trust’s page here. If you want to share on social media, the Land Trust’s Facebook page is here and Instagram feed is here.

Thank you,

David
